A rotator cuff tear is a significant injury involving one or more of the four muscles and their tendons that stabilize the shoulder joint. This condition can result from acute trauma, such as lifting a heavy object, or from degenerative changes due to aging and repetitive overhead activities. Symptoms include shoulder pain, weakness, and difficulty lifting the arm or performing overhead motions. Effective management of a rotator cuff tear often includes physical therapy, anti-inflammatory medications, and, in severe cases, surgical repair to restore shoulder function and alleviate pain.
